Size: Males 65–80 lbs., females 50–65 lbs.
Lifespan: 13–15 years, current record 18 years
Exercise: Moderate—Greyhounds are sprinters and enjoy the occasional run; most days a couple of good walks will be sufficient with a good run once or twice a week. Greyhounds must always be on a leash or in a fenced area.
Lifestyle: Greyhounds love people and napping, in that order; they are very social and must be indoors with their people and out of the elements.
Health: Few hereditary problems, racing Greyhounds have been bred for health and athleticism.
Care: Greyhounds have a short coat and usually experience a seasonal shed twice per year. Weekly brushing should suffice, nails should be kept short, and teeth cleaned annually.
Home: Greyhounds tend to be quiet dogs and do well in all types of homes; apartments to farms to mansions are suitable. Homes without a fenced yard require a commitment to more frequent walks.
