Oregon Greyhound Association
The Oregon Greyhound Association (OGA) is a not-for-profit
group dedicated to providing good care and good homes for greyhounds,
both during and after their racing careers. Our members include
kennel owners, greyhound owners, trainers, and helpers. Located
in Gresham, Oregon, the OGA, Oregon Racing Commission and two
greyhound adoption groups work together to place more than 300
greyhounds a year into loving homes.
Oregon Racing Commission prohibits euthanizing greyhounds
except for humane reasons. Euthanasia must be recommended
by and performed by a licensed veterinarian (Oregon Administrative
Rules, 462-180-0020, Care of Greyhounds). The OGA actively
supports the ban on euthanasia by providing an adoption kennel
and experienced staff to care for Oregon’s greyhounds until
they are adopted. While in the adoption kennel the greyhounds
receive any needed medical attention. |
